Abstracted Reality is my new ongoing series of paintings that take small, intriguing fragments of the real world and rearranges their visual relationships. Light, shade, colour and structure become more important than the original subject. There is no intended orientation — turn the painting whichever way makes the composition work for you. The images can also be recreated in custom colourways, allowing the work to respond to its surroundings rather than simply reproduce reality. But as with all of my work, the truth is still embedded into the imagery.
